Bohemian inspired decor when done right exudes creativity in way that can be imaginative and tasteful. The beauty in mixing up colours, textures and combining furniture styles gives the room a fun and free-spirited vibe.
Entertaining at home has always been a deeply personal affair. We invite friends and family to step into our world and make themselves feel at home. The dining space is usually the place where we spend pleasant moments with our guests and regale in intimate conversations. As we sit around the table, we munch on delectable treats and exchange life stories, new ideas, hopes and dreams.
Investing time in a beautiful table setting that suits your personality and style will not only spark appreciative oohs and aahs but can also kickstart a lively conversation and set the tone for the occasion.
Our next decor stylist, Eram Khan is all for minimalism and the use of natural elements. Her décor style is aspirational yet achievable. As you walk through Eram’s beautiful home, you will find liberal use of earthy-neutral tones, patterns, textures, colour as well as products made with natural elements. This isn’t surprising considering she grew up watching her mom and grand mom decorate their homes with jute, bamboo, cane, etc.
Her home largely reflects bohemian but sometimes she likes to add a touch of block prints too. According to her "Boho-Indie" is the style that best suits her.

Through her eyes, let’s try and understand how she livens up her space using the right tablecloth:
TYH: CHOOSING TABLE LINEN FOR YOUR SPACE CAN BE QUITE TRICKY. WHAT FACTORS DID YOU CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING ONE FOR YOUR HOME?
ERAM: For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a problem in finding the right table linen. I needed a table cloth that was of great quality, suited my décor aesthetic and super functional at the same time. It was by chance that I discovered “The Yard House“ and have been a fan ever since. Their selection of table linen checks all the boxes. Phew.. indeed a true life saviour.
TYH: WHAT COLOURS/PRINTS DO YOU GO WITH TO COMPLIMENT YOUR DINING SPACE?
ERAM: I prefer to go with neutral shades/subtle prints because that way I’m able to highlight both the table linen as well as whatever centre piece I choose to lay on my table.
TYH: WHEN YOUR UNSURE OF WHAT TABLE LINEN TO GO WITH, WHAT IS A SAFE BET?
: The safest option, in my opinion is to go with solids in a neutral shade as that gives you an empty canvas that you could play around with based on individual tastes and styles.
TYH: WHY THE IKAT BEIGE PRINT FOR YOUR SPACE?
ERAM: The reason I chose the table cover ‘Ikat Beige’ from The Yard House collection is because it fits right into the vibe of my home from the colour to the print as well as complimenting the natural elements around the dining space.
TYH: DO YOU THINK A HOME NEEDS MORE THAN JUST THE ONE TABLE CLOTH?
ERAM: I totally believe in having multiple table cloths for different occasions as it gives me options for styling the space differently based on the occasion. In my opinion, a table cloth truly elevates the look and feel of a space in your home.
TYH: COULD YOU TALK ABOUT HOW YOU'D SET YOUR TABLE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION?
ERAM: For me laying out a simple yet elegant table really brings to life the whole dining space. Be it catching up for coffee with a friend or a formal dinner party, having a well thought out table or place - setting makes an instant impression with your guests. Keeping the table setting minimal and decluttered is my go to decor. I style my table using a round cane tray with a pitcher of fresh/dried flowers as a centre-piece, candles, plates, glassware and some cutlery that go well with my table linen. Keeping your dining room as well as your table minimal and decluttered makes the space look more appealing.
TYH: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO EVERYONE WHILE LOOKING AT ANY TREND ON SOCIAL MEDIA?
ERAM: With the multiple trends and styles of décor available on social media nowadays it does get very confusing but I do not follow any particular trend. I strongly believe one should not hoard unnecessarily and only pick items that go well with their aesthetics and also functional at the same time. For e.g. a good table linen, a solid centerpiece like a round tray with a pitcher that can hold flowers or used as a jug to store water add to the aesthetic and are functional too.
Quite often, the tablecloth is an overlooked piece of accessory but as you read through Eram’s interview, she gives us ideas on how to make it the talking piece for any occasion.
