MAINTENANCE AND CARE
WIPE-CLEAN
Wipe clean with a wet sponge or towel immediately. Turmeric and curry stains tend to linger if allowed to soak in.
Most other spills do not leave any stains even if they are not tended to right away.
MAINTAIN EDGES
For light colours, on prolonged use, watch out for dirt accumulating along the edges where the fabric folds. On darker colours, you’ll notice light streaks along the edges. They disappear on wiping the edges regularly with a wet cloth.
WASHING & SHRINKAGE
If usage is heavy, wash by hand or machine with soap every three weeks and dry in the sun.
Expect up to 5% shrinkage on woven cottons after the first machine wash.
HALDI STAINS
Here’s what to do:
Whenever there are spills, act immediately—the sooner you attend to it, the better the response to treatment.
Wipe on the spot, carefully enough not to spread it around:
- Leave a paste of baking soda + water or detergent for 10 mins & wipe clean.
- Use hand sanitizer for 10 mins, then soak in vanish, before washing (after 2 cycles the effect is much better).
- Use Pidilite "stain off" and soak in vanish before washing.
Sun dry after washing. The stain will dull down over time.
DO NOT BLEACH & DO NOT DRY CLEAN
Do not use bleach or dry clean after washing, as they may impact the treatment.
Bleaching is a bad idea because it fades the prints away.
Hand wash gently without vigorous scrubbing.
SUN-DRY
After washing the table linen, spread it out in the warm sunlight to dry. This will also help to fade any remaining stains.
AIR OUT OCCASIONALLY
Allow your wooden table to breathe, remove the table cover and air it out every two weeks. This simple step helps preserve both the table and the table cover’s quality over time.
PRODUCT PERFORMANCE OVER TIME
The treatments are fairly permanent.
The water resistance may reduce by about 10-15% after multiple machine washes, after which it stays Unchanged. The anti-slip will remain unaffected.
What this means is, after about 15 washes, you may not be able to leave liquids on for a prolonged duration without some seepage. It will be wipe- able, but for a shorter duration. Try to minimise washes ideally.
Do not let liquids settle on the surface for too long - there may be gradual seepage. It is, after all a breathable fabric.
IRONING/PRESSING
Creases & puckering can be ironed on dry cotton setting to flatten out. You don’t have to use very low heat. If the creases on the covers are stubborn, let it lay on the table for a day or two and they will settle.
HOT VESSELS
Avoid placing hot vessels directly on the surface. While the table cloth can withstand the heat, it will not insulate the table.
