About the Collection
Lightweight, reversible cotton dohars in printed designs, two looks in one. A dohar gives you gentle warmth through layers, not weight, so it’s light enough for summer and cosy enough for an air-conditioned room. It’s easy to wash and dry, even in the monsoon.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a dohar?
A dohar is a lightweight, layered cotton blanket. Its warmth comes from air trapped between thin layers of fabric rather than from a thick filling, so it keeps you comfortable without the weight of a blanket or quilt. Traditional dohars use fine mul cotton, which is soft, airy and breathable.
2. What is a dohar used for?
It is the layer between a bedsheet and a blanket. Use it on warm nights when you like being covered, in humid weather, and in air-conditioned rooms. It is light enough that you never feel trapped under it, and gives just enough warmth when the room cools around 3 or 4 am.
3. Is a dohar the same as an AC blanket?
Essentially, yes. Long before "AC blanket" became a term, the dohar solved the same problem: a night that starts warm and gets cooler as the AC runs. Keep it folded at the foot of the bed and pull it over you when you need it.
4. Why are your dohars made of mul cotton?
Mul is a fine, lightweight, closely woven cotton made for warm weather. Air moves through it, it absorbs moisture, and it stays soft against the skin. Because it is so light, several layers come together without bulk, which is what gives a dohar its warmth through layering, not weight.
5. Can I use a dohar in winter and during the monsoon?
Yes. On cooler evenings and in mild winters it may be all you need, and in colder months you can layer it under a quilt or rajai. In the monsoon, cotton handles humidity better than heavy or synthetic blankets, and a dohar is light enough to wash and dry easily even when drying space is short.
6. What is the difference between a dohar and a comforter?
A dohar is made of thin layers of cotton: light, breathable and easy to wash. A comforter has a filling of fibre, down or polyester sewn inside: bulkier, warmer, and harder to wash without affecting the filling. A dohar suits Indian weather and AC rooms; a comforter suits colder nights.
